According to the 1890 Oak Creek, Butler County, NE survivors, soldiers, sailors and marines and widows document her husband served in the Civil War. He was a private in Co. B 31st WI Infantry. Enlisted in Aug. 1862 and was discharged July 1865.
There is no stone for him near his wife. When he came to Brainard from N.Y. In 1881, he engaged in the lumber and coal business and was the first chairman of the First Village Board when the town of Brainard was incorporated.
Most likely after his wife, Anna, died he moved to OK, remarried and had more children. He is probably buried there. The 1900 census shows him in Reno, OK, married to Melvina for 12 years with 5 children.
